Greg is one of around 200 homeless men and women in Washington, DC who are striving for some measure of economic self sufficiency by becoming a vendor for a newspaper known as Street Sense Street Sense is the only publication that focuses exclusively on the problems of the homeless and impoverished in Washington, DC and other cities around the country. Greg has a spot near Union Station on the way to Capitol Hill so there are a great many passersby that he has the opportunity to interact with. After buying a paper from Greg, I watched him for awhile hawking his papers and espousing the cause of the homeless. To this is hard work is a huge understatement. But to paraphrase Greg, it beats begging for small change and is better for your self esteem. Greg is still in his "temporary vendor" status. Hopefully he will soon become a permanent vendor and rise from the ranks of the Invisible Ones. If you see Greg, buy a paper, it will make your day better.
